One of the primary goals of Hortobágy’s tourism service providers in recent years has been to ensure that our sites and facilities are accessible and easy to visit for people with reduced mobility.
We have now introduced an accessible horse-drawn carriage for the popular puszta carriage tour program at the Mátai Stud, allowing guests with reduced mobility and wheelchair users to take part in the authentic puszta experience. Within the stud area, the internal roads, stables, the visitor centre exhibition, and the Nyerges Presszó are all easily accessible. Accessible restrooms are located on the ground floor of the building housing the Stud History Exhibition.
The HNP Visitor Centre and its exhibitions are also fully accessible. Visitors can enjoy the Nature of Hortobágy exhibition, the Pusztai Treasury, and the World of Cranes exhibition. The information desk, gift shop, and café located in the building are also available to guests.
The national park bus service to the Hortobágy Wildlife Park is low-floor, and within the wildlife park the fauna of Hortobágy can be explored mainly along paved paths.
The Bird Hospital building is also fully accessible.
Hortobágy’s renewed central area, the Market Square, is likewise accessible, where many new attractions await visitors.
