Horse Stud visiting
- 4071 Hortobagy, Máta Stud
The Mátai Ménes, with nearly 250 horses, is one of Hungary's most significant and historically rich horse breeding centers. Founded by the Free Royal City of Debrecen, its primary mission is the preservation and breeding of the traditional Hungarian Nonius breed, which was declared a national treasure in 2004. The stud farm is also a major tourist attraction, serving as the starting point for the Puszta Carriage Ride, the most popular experience in Hortobágy.
If you haven’t yet attended the Hortobágy Equestrian Days, an event that attracts thousands of visitors to the region, don’t miss this grand celebration of horses and equestrian sports!
