Tisza Lake Water Walkway – 2000 Steps Above the Water

When we surrender ourselves to nature while walking through a forest and a bathing area, allowing the stroll among the plants to refresh us, it becomes an increasingly popular recreational activity. On this eco-trail, it is possible to recharge by immersing oneself in the lakeside vegetation.

On the eco-trail, visitors can gain insight into the flora and fauna of Lake Tisza by walking along a 1500-meter-long boardwalk. The walkway can be accessed by regular boat services departing from the Fűzfa Harbour in Poroszló. Starting from the walkway, a hike can be taken along reed beds, rushes, floodplain forests, and aquatic plant communities, leading to the previously inaccessible, wild and scenic areas of the lake. Observing the wildlife is made easier with birdwatching spots, a lookout tower, and informative panels.

Tisza Lake Ecocenter

A walk among sturgeon and otters, or even participating in otter feeding? It’s possible.

The Tisza Lake Ecocenter in Poroszló is primarily a tourist visitor center showcasing native animals. It’s a true attraction that, in a fun and interactive way, presents the natural treasures of Lake Tisza and the Tisza Valley, revealing the rich wildlife of Hungary's second largest lake. The main highlight of the Ecocenter is Europe’s largest freshwater aquarium system, which, with a total volume of nearly 1 million liters, offers a truly unique nature-experience, showcasing the underwater wonders of the lake.

Cycling Around Lake Tisza

Cycling around Lake Tisza is a unique nature experience, as the terrain is free of steep climbs, and even at a leisurely pace, there’s plenty to see and explore in just a couple of days.

The cycling path runs along the dam that encircles the lake, so we can enjoy the vast water surface throughout the entire route. For families, the recommended option is to complete the shorter loop, which can be comfortably done in about 4 hours. This means not completing the full circuit around the lake, but instead taking a shortcut between Poroszló and Tiszafüred via Route 33. The full loop is 67 km and can be completed in approximately 8 hours. It's also worth stopping by the Tisza Lake Cycling Center, where you can rent bicycles and find all the equipment you'll need.

 

Kiskörei Fish Ladder

The Kiskörei Fish Ladder is of key ecological importance, as it ensures the continuous water supply between Lake Tisza and the Tisza River. The canal is 1.5 km long and can be approached by bike or on foot.

 

 

Kiskörei Vízerőmű

A Tisza-völgyében a Kiskörei Vízlépcső és a vele összefüggő öntözőrendszer megépítése további jelentős lépés volt a folyóvíz komplex hasznosítására.

A vízlépcső három egybeépített főműtárgyból duzzasztómű, hajózsilip, vízerőmű és a hullámtéri duzzasztóból, valamint az egyéb csatlakozó létesítményekből áll. A három főműtárgyat a hullámtérben, árvízi körtöltéssel védett közös munkagödörben építették meg.

A vízerőmű épületrészébe épített négy vízszintes tengelyű csőturbina újszerű, Magyarországon első ízben alkalmazott megoldást jelentett. A kisesésű folyami vízerőműveknél alkalmazott függőleges tengelyelrendezéssel szemben előnyt jelentett az építési méretek fajlagos csökkenése és a kedvezőbb hatásfok elérése.

A vízlépcső építésének előkészítő munkáit már 1967-ben megkezdték. Ide sorolták a hullámtérben épülő mű árvízvédelmét szolgáló körtöltés megépítését is. A vízépítési műtárgyak 1973-ban, a vízerőmű technológiai berendezései 1974-ben készültek el.

Tiszavirág Ártéri Sétaút 

A Sétaút a tiszaörvényi Szabics Kikötőből a belépőjegy megváltása után egy rövid csónakázással érhető el. A Sétaút egész évben látogatható. A 2000 m hosszú tanösvény a tiszavirág (kérész) életét, fejlődési fázisait és a Tisza-tó élővilágát mutatja be. Madármegfigyelő tornyai és a séta végcélját is jelentő belső tó, a Göbe halászladikjai is igen népszerűek.

Tisza Lake Eco-Trail – Örvényi Pákász Trail

This eco-trail reveals more unique wonders of the floodplain forest and contributes to the rediscovery of a nearly forgotten craft. On the Pákász Trail, visitors will learn about the pákász (traditional fisher) profession. Who were the pákász? Why were they called the "know-it-alls of the marshes"? What is the origin of the term "pákász"? How can fish be caught without a net? These and many other questions are answered as you walk along the trail.

Doll Museum – Abádszalók

The largest part of the museum is dedicated to dolls dressed in traditional folk costumes. Thanks to the research and craftsmanship of Józsefné Steigauf, more than 700 authentic miniature replicas of the costumes from over 60 countries, including the Carpathian Basin and beyond, can be viewed on 56 cm dolls across three rooms.
