Kungyörgyi Exhibition
Have you heard about the unique elements of the Hortobágy landscape, the grazing ponds? Discover these natural treasures in an interactive exhibition!
Our exciting exhibition, created as part of the LIFE+ project titled "Grazing Ponds Habitat Management in Hortobágy", showcases the special habitat, plant life, and wildlife of the Pannonian saline steppes and marshes. One of the rare features of this habitat are the grazing ponds, which are found only in Hortobágy in Hungary. The project team is dedicated to saving and restoring these grazing ponds. The exhibition allows visitors to learn more about this work through playful, interactive elements.
The exhibition is located at Kungyörgy settlement, which can be accessed from Route 33. This area, along with the surrounding land, was once the grazing site for Debrecen’s largest stud farm. The interactive elements of the exhibition are displayed in the service building, while the former water tower serves as an observation point.
The exhibition is open to the public from spring to autumn, with free entry, but prior registration is required.
Access:
6.5 km from the town of Hortobágy, turn right on Route 33 towards Tiszafüred.
