Hortobágy Inn Museum
- 4071 Hortobagy, 1 Petőfi Square
The monotony of the plain was once broken by the inns, where travelers and shepherds could satisfy their hunger and thirst. The Hortobágy Inn is the most famous inn of the Great Plain and is part of the thematic "Csárdák Útja" (Inns Route). It was built in the 18th century, making it the oldest building in Hortobágy. Next to the Hortobágy Inn is the Nine-Hole Bridge, and across from it is the Shepherd Museum, which once served as a cart station.
The exhibition at the Hortobágy Inn introduces visitors to the history of the guesthouse from its beginnings, offering valuable information about transportation on the plain and the inn’s famous guests.
The inn is still operating today, welcoming guests who are hungry or thirsty in the plain, offering them the finest shepherd dishes and Hortobágy specialties.
How to get there: By car, at the roundabout near kilometer 72 on the main road 33.
