Hersdmen Museum
At the foot of the Nine-Hole Bridge, an exhibition set up in a former cart station offers an engaging introduction to the mysterious world of pastoral livestock farming characteristic of the Hortobágy and the related shepherd life in a playful, interactive form. The exhibition tells the story of what it was like to be a shepherd in the past and what shepherds do today in the Hortobágy.
The exhibition, located in the cart station restored to its original condition from the 1780s, is set to be completely renewed by 2024. It brings the famous pastoral livestock farming that has characterized the Hortobágy region for centuries, along with its participants, closer to the interested visitors. The exhibition narrates what it was once like to be a shepherd in this area and what shepherds' tasks are even today in the Hortobágy. Visitors can play a sheep face-recognition game, ring bells, and even try their hand at being a herder. It reveals how grass turns into stew and why shepherds proudly wear the colorful coat (cifraszűr) even today. The Shepherd Museum is not just about the past; it highlights how the heritage of shepherds contributes to everyday life even now. In the "Instant Steppe Experience" room, visitors can momentarily experience the feeling of being in the steppe.

Opening hours
- Special opening days: Closed on Mondays, but open on all long weekends and public holidays (except for November 1, 2024, and the period between December 23, 2024, and January 5, 2025, when we accept groups of at least 20 people with prior registration) with weekend hours.
- January, February, March: Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- April, May: Closed on Mondays, Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- June, July, August: Every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- September, October: Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- November, December: Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
