Attractions

The aim of the exhibition is to present one of the greatest treasures of Hortobágy to visitors, allowing them to explore the unique characteristics of the Nonius horse and its distinctive features primarily through experiences, with minimal description. The goal is for the exhibition, which reflects the unique atmosphere of the Puszta, to satisfy the interest of adults while nurturing children's love and respect for horses. Additionally, it aims to introduce the legendary world of the horsemen (csikós) through unique interactive exhibits and multimedia tools.

The exhibition's task is to showcase the Nonius breed’s appearance, life, the tools and crafts related to horse keeping, as well as the historical background of the Mátai Stud, Hortobágy horse breeding, steppe horse keeping, and its utilization, especially focusing on the vanishing way of life of the shepherds, with particular emphasis on the life and legendary figures of the horsemen.
