The rustling of wings above our heads in an aviary, the sight of injured birds fostering a sense of responsibility, or the moments when healed birds are released into the wild, can bring nature closer to us even in a hospital. Moreover, in this hospital, not only birds are treated, but occasionally bats and hedgehogs as well.

Located in the center of Hortobágy, Hungary's oldest functioning bird hospital treats injured or orphaned protected and endangered bird species. In the hospital building, there is a bird rescue exhibition, and in the recovery rooms, visitors can observe the convalescing birds. The operating room is designed so that visitors can watch the treatments as well. In the bird park surrounding the hospital, permanently injured birds, mostly white storks, buzzards, owls, and eagles, can be seen. A playground made from natural materials offers a pleasant pastime for families.

Directions:
The Bird Park is located in the eastern neighborhood of the Market Square in the town center, with its own parking lot. It can be reached directly from the main road, Route 33.

The Bird Park is open year-round, including on holidays.
