Kamilla Medical, Thermal, and Strand Bath

Semsey Castle – Semsey Andor Museum

Located in the center of the town, the Semsey Castle, built in a classical style, was commissioned by András Semsey at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The renovated castle houses the Semsey Andor Museum, where visitors can learn about the history of Balmazújváros and the Semsey family, as well as the lives of the town's famous natives – including writer and politician Péter Veres, actor Imre Soós, and writer and playwright Menyhért Lengyel. In addition, the museum offers temporary exhibitions and educational programs for visitors of all ages.

Veres Péter Memorial House

An important landmark in the town is the Veres Péter Memorial House, which has been converted into a literary memorial and museum. The house, built in the mid-1850s, was home to and the workplace of writer and politician Veres Péter (1897-1970) for many years. The exhibition set up inside the house displays personal items, correspondence, works, and other artifacts related to the writer's life and career, presented in their original surroundings.

Mihalkó Hat Maker's House

One of the oldest traditional crafts is the making of shepherd hats from natural materials, specifically from sheep wool. The Mihalkó family's hat-making tradition dates back to the 1800s. In the workshop of the renowned hat maker, Mihalkó Gyula (1949-2016), who received numerous awards for his craftsmanship, visitors can learn about the techniques and tools used in traditional hat-making. The workshop also hosts an exhibition featuring all the types of hats crafted by the Mihalkó family, along with other folk art masterpieces. The "Mihalkó-style Hortobágy shepherd hat" was included in the Hungarian National Heritage List in 2016, earning the title of a distinguished national treasure.

German Village – House of Traditions

The House of Traditions in the German Village community opened its doors in 2015, offering a variety of programs and experiences for visitors. The museum provides insight into the history, life, and customs of the local German-speaking community. In addition to exhibitions of German furniture and traditional clothing, visitors can also view works created by local artists. The building includes a library, playroom, club room, and a demonstration kitchen, where guests can learn about and taste traditional German dishes.

Radio History Exhibition

József László Csige has been collecting radios and telecommunications equipment for decades and is a founding member and board member of the Hungarian Radio Collectors Club Association. His private collection, which is showcased in this exhibition, features around 300 items. Visitors can view a variety of interesting and rare pieces, including a radio made in 1925 in Újpest and a speaker produced in 1921 in the United States.

Nagy-szik – Hortobágy Nature Conservation Association Visitor Center

Nature lovers can encounter rare bird species and indigenous domestic animals at Nagy-szik, where they can also learn about a habitat restoration project in Hortobágy, along with its natural values. The association's team at the visitor center offers a presentation room, observation points equipped with informative signs, and a variety of eco-tours for interested visitors.

Virágoskúti Rose Garden Biocsárda

The Virágoskúti Rose Garden Biocsárda, designed by Imre Makovecz and his student Tamás Dósa Papp, opened its doors in the spring of 2017 and quickly became a popular venue for weddings and wine dinners. Since the spring of 2018, it has also been operating as an à la carte restaurant. The furnishings of the tavern were crafted by artisans, with everything from the plates to the chandeliers showcasing the beauty of Hungarian motifs. The restaurant exclusively uses organic ingredients for its dishes. Most of the raw materials come from their own farm, with additional products sourced from other organic farmers and traders. Their drink menu includes homemade fruit juices, syrups, and pálinka, along with craft beers from Hajdúnánás and organic, handcrafted wines from various regions of Hungary.

Centrum Ice Cream Parlor Balmazújváros

In the summer heat, the Centrum Ice Cream Parlor offers an unparalleled refreshing experience with its premium, handmade, cooked ice creams. In addition to award-winning flavor combinations, their menu includes a variety of special ice creams, such as lactose-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and paleo options. Over the past years, they have received numerous accolades at various competitions: In 2017, they won a gold medal with their "Mascarpone cottage cheese with salted caramel" ice cream at the "Ice Cream of the Year" competition, while their "Salted pistachio with roasted seeds" creation won a bronze medal in the lactose-free category, earning them the Handcrafted Ice Cream Excellence Award. Two years later, at the same competition, their cherry-walnut-poppy seed ice cream earned them a bronze medal in the lactose-free category. They also won the Debrecen Ice Cream title at the 50th Debrecen Flower Carnival competition with their "Old-fashioned butter caramel with pear sauce." To date, they have proudly collected a total of 17 medals.
